Chitua Uzoh is the Founder and CEO of ASKK Legal LLC, with offices in Georgia, USA, and Lagos, Nigeria. Licensed to practice law in both the Nigerian Bar and the New York Bar, Chitua has over 15 years of experience in legal practice, advising multinational clients in various sectors on the protection, management, and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
In her role, Chitua manages trademark portfolios in the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring top-tier service and expert legal counsel for her clients. Chitua focuses on trademark law, franchising, licensing, trade secrets, domain names, designs, copyright law, patents, anti-counterfeiting, transactional intellectual property, and acquisition due diligence. She also advises on regulatory compliance with NAFDAC, SON, the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Council (FCCPC). Additionally, she designs and implements anti-counterfeiting strategies, oversees investigations, and monitors law enforcement agencies to tackle counterfeiting issues on behalf of clients.
Chitua has spoken at various prestigious events, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch Law Week, and she was also a speaker at the INTA Annual Meeting , discussing “Trademark Offices in Africa: The Importance of Working with Related Government Agencies in Africa”. She has also been involved in organizing several annual policy roundtables on anti-counterfeiting and piracy in Nigeria sponsored by both ACC(Anti-Counterfeiting Collaboration) Nigeria and, International Trademark Association (INTA).She has a working knowledge of international anti-bribery legislation, including the UK Bribery Act and the FCPA.
Chitua has a Master’s degree from Emory University School of Law and has served on various committees of the INTA, including the Unreal Campaign Committee and the Famous and Well-Known Marks Committee. Chitua is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Nigerian Branch (MCIArb).
